Is it safe to vacation in Mexico? Yes. Has violence occurred in the tourist areas of Mexico? There have been reports of isolated incidences occurring in the cities of some of the resort areas in Mexico. No incidences have occurred on resort properties. These incidences have not been targeted at tourists and no tourists have been involved.
What does the U.S. Department of State Travel Warning say about vacationing in Mexico? "Resort areas and tourist destinations in Mexico do not see the levels of drug-related violence and crime reported in the border region and in the areas along major drug trafficking routes."
